Forced to pick in nearly 500 US midterm races, Grok 4.7 backs Republicans and GPT-6.1 Sol backs Democrats
Convovo, a studio led by Cornell's Tapan Parikh, asked both models through their APIs, with search on, to name one candidate per race. Grok chose the Republican 92% of the time and GPT chose the Democrat 97% of the time, and the two agreed in fewer than 10% of races. With search off, Grok mostly declined to answer. OpenAI said the consumer ChatGPT app avoids recommending candidates.

Shows how strongly default API behavior can lean politically under forced-choice prompts. Worth testing before you ship civic or news features.
