Tesla starts Optimus humanoid production in Fremont, eyes outside sales in late 2027
Tesla's Q3 update says Optimus robots are now being built to production standards on converted lines in Fremont. Musk set an aggressive late-2027 volume target but cautioned the ramp will be slow, with reliability and new-task software still open problems.
